Niagara Block, a family run business since 1931 was founded at the height of the Great Depression by Frank Grimo Sr. The operation has grown from a two-man operation to over fifteen people.

In the olden days, the blocks were all hand produced at the Ferry Street and Stanley Avenue plant. But now, in the modern plant at 5000 Montrose Road, up to 10,000 blocks a day can be produced.

The blocks are made from local materials, blended and batched automatically, molded by hydraulic equipment and cured in heated steam kilns.

The quick-drying kiln process allows the blocks to be stacked the next day without fear of breakage.

Besides building blocks, the company produces home building materials, cast products, specialty products and sells various interlocking paving stone products.

The materials are sold to large manufacturers, building contractors, as well as do-it-yourselfers.

Niagara Block is currently supplying material for many developments within the Niagara area. They have been involved in the building of many developments such as but not limited to Hotel & Motels, Senior Homes, Wineries and Institutional Facilities.

Today, the company's 9,200 square foot plant is still as busy as ever. The company president John Grimo and wife Catherine have been satisfying customers for many years and Niagara Block is a name that their clients have come to know and trust.
